CADILLAC VISION

Title: Art Director

While directing Cadillac Vision Magazine, I learned just how tightly to hold on to a photographer's belt buckle while they are dangling off the back of a pickup truck that's going 60mph while they're trying to shoot action shots. White knuckle tight!

Like the other magazines I worked on, I took this one from concept through to production designing everything from the cover to the front of book pages and features. I worked closely with the client on this custom publishing project aimed to promote Cadillac's new image--getting away from the car that your grandpa owned to something that generation x-ers would splurge on. The highlights were learning about cars and working with some of the most talented photographers and illustrators in the business.

FUN FACT: Pretty ironic to be the Art Director on a magazine for Cadillac...when I didn't even own my first car until I was in my 30s! Full disclosure: 3 kids and many years later, I now have an Escalade. The world works in funny ways!

Shooting in Vegas with 3 Cadillacs (one a classic), 1 Winnebago, 4 models, 2 stylists, 4 assistants, 2 art directors, and a photographer...plus a couple clients.
Shooting in Vegas was totally exhausting and a total blast. 6am call times and working until 10pm. Shutting down the entire strip for 30 minutes to get a 2-car action shot. Coordinating a huge group and an oversized Winnebago. But the stress was worth it; the shots were gorgeous and the client was thrilled.

Our "Mission Impossible" story was shot in a huge warehouse out in LA by the talented Dan Winters who created the cool composite photos.
